Examining the past can be a daunting task, but what happens when the past comes back to examine us? Writer Caroline Crane is faced with this challenge when the ghosts of her parents and first husband appear to her as she is cleaning out her attic. The ghosts, who died in a car accident nearly twenty years earlier when her two children were small, have strong opinions and stunning revelations about Caroline's past. The ghosts' arrival is also inconvenient, as it is Thanksgiving and Caroline and her second husband are hosting a large gathering of family and friends. This tragic-comic novel explores the unreliability of memory, a reimagining of the afterlife, and how love that endures can help us move on.
