Joshua Bennet, a young African American journalist, never believed that nightmares were real. However, after his father's suspicious death and the inheritance of a large sum of money, he begins to question everything he thought he knew. Curious about his father's tall tales of the undead, Joshua quits his job and sets out to find the mysterious gravedigger who is said to be at the center of these stories. He travels to towns where monsters are said to lurk in the shadows, and eventually meets the aging man of legend. Joshua is swept up in a supernatural battle between good and evil, and he must decide whether his quest for closure will lead to a beginning beyond his imagination.
