Dineh: An Autobiographical Novel

Dineh is an autobiographical Yiddish-language novel by Ida Maze, first published posthumously in English translation. It is a pastorale laced with beauty and sorrow, and a coming-of-age story told from the point of view of a young girl. Set entirely in what is now Belarus, the novel follows Dineh, Maze's eponymous heroine, as she grows up in a small village. Dineh is fueled by her hunger for learning, her connection to her family and community, and her love of the natural world.
