Mother in Name Only
2023 NYC Big Book Award Winner
Mother in Name Only is a memoir by Myrna Kaye, a modern and educated woman who recounts her life experiences in the 1950s and 1960s. She writes about her broken family bonds, her abusive marriage, and her struggles as a mother.
One of the most difficult experiences Myrna faced was when her husband forced her to give up their son for adoption. This decision haunted her for years, and she eventually reunited with her son after 35 years. However, her joy was short-lived when her other two sons distanced themselves from her.
Through yoga, meditation, and personal growth practices, Myrna was able to heal from her past trauma and learn to let go of her children. She also found strength in her spirituality and was able to forgive herself for the mistakes she had made.
Mother in Name Only is a story of resilience and hope. It is a testament to the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity.
