Alexander Covington is on the hunt for Melody Karsh, a young woman accused of treason against the Party. She has been missing for weeks, but her image has been plastered all over the city, with the words "Free Melody" spray-painted on walls. The public is sympathetic to her plight, but Covington is determined to bring her to justice. Melody is unaware that her name has become a rallying cry for a growing movement of dissent. She is also unaware that the authorities are executing those who demand her freedom. Derek Lin is torn between his sympathy for Melody and his anger at the deaths of those who have been caught up in the investigation. He must decide whether to join the fight for her freedom or stand aside. Melody, Derek, and Alexander are all caught up in a web of political intrigue and violence. They must each choose their own path, knowing that their decisions could have deadly consequences.
