Love, Hope, and Recovery When her husband had a terrible stroke at a relatively young age, his wife was told he would never be the same and would likely spend the rest of his life in a vegetative state. Drawing on her optimistic and hopeful spirit as well as artistic talent and expertise working with disabled children, she created a program that she hoped would aid her husband’s recovery. Remarkably, it did more than restore his health, it improved his entire well-being and allowed him to adapt a more authentic identity that had previously been hiding under a mountain of obligation.
